tonight will be the second night of violet sleeping in my room. i am trying to encourage bonding between us. previously, she has had trouble with separation anxiety (and still does, but we're making some progress), so she was sleeping in her crate in the living room as nightly practice that she could be away from me a bit.

she's so good at night though--doesn't make trouble or anything, just sleeps on her bed--that i decided to allow her to sleep in my room again. i want her to be part of my pack instead of pushing her away and relegating her to the crate. i want to encourage our bonding. Also, i frankly miss her being in the room with me.

I don't know if it's the best decision, or if my reasoning will hold up, but sometimes i think i just have to go with my gut. a happeir me will always deal better wiht a spaz dog!

so along with the getting to sleep in my room, i need to enforce the crate time. I have decided dinner and an hour in the crate are appropriate for days when she's been at daycare all day. then i can go to the gym, or the store or whatever if i need to, and hopefully it will get easier once it's part of our schedule. yesterday was day one. she went in with no trouble. took 10 minutes to decide to eat dinner. curled up, passed out. today on the other hand, there were many theatrics. didnt' want to go in, hooted and hollered for a while once in. didnt' eat till 35 min elapsed. hooted and howled off and on till she went free. 70 minutes. one day at a time.

i will be meeting with the woman who runs the daycare thursday evening to discuss vi's behavior (more on that later).
